Been doing these for an A6 publication based on the theme of a post apocalyptic world and survival. I ran with the idea of insects being our biggest threat against survival due rapid reproduction and the fact insects adapt to a number of conditions that are opposed on them.

Papergirl is an art project from Berlin, making its UK début in Manchester this Autumn. In the style of American paper-boys, rolled art pieces will be distributed by bicycle in the streets of Manchester to random passers-by.

The Papergirl Manchester exhibition will be held at Soup Kitchen from 1st October to 21st October in association with Manchester Free for Arts Festival 2010.

Pretty busy at the moment with Wolfwind but im also doing a couple of new zines for the Alternative Press Fair in November.. far off I know but I have got allot on!

The first zine im doing is called 'A Gentlemen’s Affair' which will focus on male pattern baldness. The second zine is called 'Dreaming Of The South' which is going to focus on my writing which I’ve been doing for years but have not been overly confident about due to the fact its me exploring my youth (honestly).

I also thought id recommend some books that have had a big impact on my life and probably had an influence on 'Dreaming of the South'.

The other day someone saw the cover of this book and read the title and said that they were worried about me, almost that I was weird to read and be interested in such subjects as death, depression and mourning. The more I study these subjects and read about them the more I understand why I and others feel mournful, depressed or fear death AND the more im understanding I realise its completely unnecessary and ridiclous for humans to have this attachment to life and the fear of death. Death is scary because its never spoken about and we have all sorts of stupid manifestations of heaven and hell created by man but to understand why you feel like you do and that one day you will die (and to be fine with that) is liberating, for me anyway.

My uncle David died this summer

My uncle David left his job, family, three brothers and sold all his belongings. He then travelled up north to Bristol and sat up base. He never contacted his family or his his brothers again. Fifty years later a call’s made to my other uncle saying;
"He hasn’t got long"

By the time they got there David was gone.

My uncles visited his flat to collect his belongings. They got inside and were shocked at what they found. David had ripped the phone sockets from the walls, the carpet was discoloured, stained and stale, the toilet had been filled with plaster so it couldn’t be used and the floor was covered in bean cans, old newspapers and year old junk mail. However in-between this array of rubbish laid a brown pair of Italian leather shoes bought to a shine that you could see your face in. David apparently always looked a million bucks. He lived in shit, worked a bum job wheeling sick patients from one ward to another. He was seemingly lonelier than a leper but when it came to his appearance boy did he scrub up well. He was obviously deeply unhappy but I can’t help but think of him every now and then and compare myself to him. While others in the family can’t understand why a man would leave a job, a loving family and friends for this lifestyle I do. I understand. It scares the hell out of me but I understand. Like a dog licking its wounded paw and nips you when you try and comfort the distressed animal. I understand. It scares the hell out of me but I understand.

It later turned out that David was sitting on a small fortune.

'silence terrifies people the most'

Im doing allot of writing lately and i was writing about a time that my dad was telling me about when he went to work to open the doors to his business and found a wrapped blanket on the doorstep to then open it and find a skinned greyhound inside. Grim but true so I thought i'd paint it.

This is an idea I decided to paint on a napkin for some reason? It will hopefully become a short film that im going to do when I have time.

4. Finally, in terms of thematic content, decide what really OBSESSES you, YOU. What really turns you on, your deepest (possibly most secret) fetish (sexual, paradoxical, philosophical, political, literal, mechanical, it really doesn’t matter), and make that central to your work either directly or obliquely, regardless of medium, accepted traditions of talent, or any other practical considerations. If you analyze your SELF effectively, with brutal honesty, this core integrity will charge your work with REAL individuality, charisma, influence and longevity of power. Surrender to a greater group does not erase self-esteem, ironically, and magickally, it accelerates a flow of matchless integrity into a consciously constructed personality. (By the way the most effective tool I can recommend for discovering and directing “true will” with minimum deviation or self-delusion is the ritual “SIGIL” process described in this r-evolutionary manual). Tell your SELF that you will make the entire world agree with YOU, rather than compromise by trying to figure out what the world will like and agree with I.T. in order to please and be pleased. The process is the product and regardless of how long it takes, one day the clarity of intent permeating your work WILL be recognized and your L-if-E will have purpose. Always and ONLY create based upon the assumption and sincere recognition that you may be so old that you really don’t care if they ever “get it”, and that it doesn’t matter because the worst thing that can happen is that your physical body dies of starvation or neglect in the meantime.

20 things you didnt know about death

1. The practice of burying the dead may date back 350,000 years, as evidenced by a 45-foot-deep pit in Atapuerca, Spain, filled with the fossils of 27 hominids of the species Homo heidelbergensis, a possible ancestor of Neanderthals and modern humans.

2. There are at least 200 euphemisms for death, including "to be in Abraham's bosom," "just add maggots" and "sleep with the Tribbles" (a "Star Trek" favorite).

3. No American has died of old age since 1951.

4. That was the year the government eliminated that classification on death certificates.

5. The trigger of death, in all cases, is lack of oxygen. Its decline may prompt muscle spasms, or the "agonal phase," from the Greek word "agon," meaning "contest."

6. Within three days of death, the enzymes that once digested your dinner begin to eat you. Ruptured cells become food for living bacteria in the gut, which release enough noxious gas to bloat the body and force the eyes to bulge outward.

7. So much for recycling: Burials in America deposit 827,060 gallons of embalming fluid -- formaldehyde, methanol and ethanol -- into the soil each year. Cremation pumps dioxins, hydrochloric acid, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide into the air.

8. Alternatively, a Swedish company, Promessa, will freeze-dry your body in liquid nitrogen, pulverize it with high-frequency vibrations and seal the resulting powder in a cornstarch coffin. They claim this "ecological burial" will decompose in six to 12 months.

9. Zoroastrians in India leave out the bodies of the dead to be consumed by vultures.

10. The vultures are now dying off after eating cattle carcasses dosed with diclofenac, an anti-inflammatory used to relieve fever in livestock.

11. Queen Victoria insisted on being buried with the bathrobe of her long-dead husband, Prince Albert, and a plaster cast of his hand.

12. If this doesn't work, we're trying in vitro! In Madagascar, families dig up the bones of dead relatives and parade them around the village in a ceremony called "famadihana." The remains are then wrapped in a new shroud and reburied. The old shroud is given to a newly married, childless couple to cover the connubial bed.

13. Sometimes, under the right conditions of temperature and humidity, fatty tissue of a buried body will turn to a soap-like substance called adipocere, or grave wax. Adipocere formation relies on a cold, damp environment and an absence of oxygen; once begun, this saponification can continue for centuries.

14. Well, yeah, there's a slight chance this could backfire: English philosopher Francis Bacon, a founder of the scientific method, died in 1626 of pneumonia after stuffing a chicken with snow to see if cold would preserve it.

15. For organs to form during embryonic development, some cells must commit suicide. Without such programmed cell death, we would all be born with webbed feet, like ducks.

16. In 1907, a Massachusetts doctor conducted an experiment with a specially designed deathbed and reported that the human body lost 21 grams upon dying. This has been widely held as fact ever since. It's not.

17. Buried alive: In 19th-century Europe there was so much anecdotal evidence that living people were mistakenly declared dead that cadavers were laid out in "hospitals for the dead" while attendants awaited signs of putrefaction.

18. Eighty percent of people in the United States die in a hospital.

19. More people commit suicide in New York City than are murdered.

20. It is estimated that 100 billion people have died since humans began.
